Seattle Slew's Legacy Of Horse Racing Greatness

By Ross Everett

Seattle Slew died on May 7, 2002 at the age of 28. One of only 11 winners of horse racing's prestigious 'Triple Crown' he is by default considered among the all time greats in thoroughbred racing. Of the eleven horses to win the Triple Crown, he is the only one to do so with an undefeated record. He was also notable due to his humble beginnings, and is the only Triple Crown winner to have been purchased at public auction. He retired to stud in'78 and sired over 100 stakes race winners including'84 Kentucky Derby champion, Swale. Slew's offspring have earned a combined $76 million dollars at the race track. Slew wasn't the most majestic looking creature by the lofty standards of race horses, but was possessed with the heart, toughness and courage of a professional prizefighter.

The Seattle Slew story started at a public auction in Kentucky--not exactly a venue expected to produce a future champion. Slew, in particular, was an unlikely heir to greatness. He was somewhat clumsy looking due to a front right forefoot splay and had a shuffling gait at trot. Slew wasn't a beautifully majestic creature like his Triple Crown winning predecessor, Secretariat. In fact, he could have been considered borderline ugly--to the extent that he was nicknamed 'Baby Huey' by the Keeneland staff. What wasn't apparent at the time was Slew's mixture of championship intangibles--competitive desire, toughness, heart and enthusiasm. His owners had unwittingly stumbled onto an equine Muhammad Ali, and his competitive fire quickly became apparent to his trainers and jockeys. His first race came at Belmont Park in'76, and he entered--and won--three races as a two year old giving a glimpse as to what like ahead.

Slew became the Kentucky Derby favorite by winning his three prep races as a three year old, including prestigious Wood Memorial. In the Derby, Slew got off to a terrible start as he stumbled from the gate much like War Emblem did in the 2002 Belmont. Unlike 2002's Triple Crown contender, however, Slew was able to recover from that miscue and basically force his way through a pack of other horses to position himself at the front of the field at the quarter mile pole. Slew would win the Derby by a length and 3 quarters. He took another tough victory at the Preakness before clinching the Triple Crown with a 4 length victory in the Belmont Stakes.

Slew ran in a few races as a 4 year old but in the pre-Breeders' Cup days there wasn't as many opportunities for an older horse. He retired to stud in'78, where he sired champions such as the aforementioned Swale and'92 Belmont Champ AP Indy.

In some ways, Slew had much in common with the heavyweight championship reign of Larry Holmes. He came so quickly on the heels of such incredible excellence--Slew was forever in the shadow of'73 Triple Crown winner Secretariat, Holmes on the heels of Muhammad Ali--that he never gained the appreciation he deserved during his prime. In hindsight, however, it has finally been noted what an exceptional horse he really was. Jockey Angel Cordero, who rode Slew during the twilight of his career noted "If I had a chance to take any horse in the world, if someone said your life is depending on riding one horse to win, I would take (Slew). I rode 44,000 horses, but he was special, he was different. He was muscled, like a wrestler. He ran different than any other horse. It was like he came from another planet."

After his death in 2002, Slew was buried at Hill 'n' Dale Farm in Lexington, Kentucky under a statue in his image. - 29943

Watch Free Angel

By Julia Edgerin

There has been no other or may be fewer television shows that have created such a stir among the masses as the "Angel TV show". Angel, the popular American television series is the continuation of another television series called "Buffy-The Vampire Slayer". This series was also created by Joss Whedon, (the same personality who created Buffy) along with David Greenwalt as his co-story writer. The Angel TV show has many resemblances and similarities to its parent television series but it cannot be compared with it because this particular series is more mature and intriguing than its older version.

The first season of this show had collections which was much higher than that of the Buffy. (The first season had collections of 4.8 million when compared to the 4.7 million grossed by the fourth season of Buffy). The hullabaloo of this TV show did live up to the expectations to a fair extent, but it could not gain much TRP's after the first season because most of the screenplay was in a dark atmosphere and also the storyline faded and did not meet the expected level.. The entire series thus concluded on May 19, 2004 after a continuous run for five years.

The basic storyline of Angel is similar to Buffy and the main character of this story is a vampire named Angel and he has to battle against all odds while working as a private detective agent. The odds are battles with evil spirits and demons and also his own self. Actually, the human soul of Angel has been returned as a punishment by the gypsies for killing someone in their own clan. Thus, the soul torments our hero by making him feel the guilt and pain about the atrocious actions he had carried out in the past.

Though Angel was less accepted by the people when compared with Buffy, it had a distinct quality of its own. The themes of Angel TV show was more mature than Buffy which concentrated on children as their main followers. Angel TV show too concentrated on children as their main source of TRP's but the element of violence in this show was on an increased scale thus reducing the younger audiences to an extent. The main character of the Angel TV show was donned by David Boreanaz. The role of Doyle was carried out to near perfection by Glenn Quinn and Charisma Carpenter did justice to her role as Chordelia Chase.

This series has a total of 110 episodes. All of these episodes have been compiled in a single DVD and is available for sale. People can very well buy this complete collection of DVD at affordable prices. But a more viable and easier option is to watch Angel Online free in the internet. You can do this with just the click of your mouse rather than going in search of a DVD. Also you can download these episodes from the internet. So, what are you guys waiting for? Just go sit and watch Angel Online free and find out what is new in this particular series. - 29943

Tips To Acquire 4 Color Process Printing

By Ray Jennings

If you're like most people searching for color printing you've heard the concept of a 4 color process printing. While many of us have heard this phrase in association with color printing many of us really do not even realize what it means. What you might not realize is you are benefitting from 4 color process printing daily at your house at work, and everywhere in between. For that matter, the majority of us use a 4 color process printing machine frequently.

Hence, what is 4 color process printing? Four color process printing is usually a system where a colored image is separated into four different color values. This means of separation is also known as color separation and this is done through the usage of filters and screens. This separation is done digitally. The result is that there is a color separation of four images that when transferred to printing plates and printing with a print press the four colors come together to recreate the original color image as preferred. Today the four color printing process is used everywhere and is universal in commercial printing industry.

The four distinct colored inks are the colors that you will observe should you put a brand new color ink cartridge inside your printer. The colors are blue, magenta, yellow, and black. The digital processor knows easy methods to combine these colors to achieve virtually any color to help you recreate any colored image exactly. The four color process printing is often known as C-M-Y-K and means cyan (blue), magenta (red), yellow, and black.

Every time you have something printed by a reliable printer you're benefiting from the 4 color process printing. The four colors are used to beautifully recreate the image you presented for printing. This printing process is notably more economical because as opposed to having to have an endless number of ink colors to print your colored items, you just need four different ink colors. Because of this printing is a lot cheaper than it might have been otherwise and also printers can be much smaller.

Easily, 4 color process printing is definitely an important component to the printing world. Whether you are printing colored pieces inside a newspaper, a greeting card, a small business card, or magazine the four color process must be used. As you can see, you make use of the four color process printing more than you had probably ever imagined daily, while not realizing what it meant until now. - 29943

Clemson Upsets Miami In Overtime

By Ross Everett

The Clemson Tigers used a touchdown pass on their first possession of overtime to upset the Miami Hurricanes 40-37 on Saturday night to cap a back and forth game. Miami kicked a field goal on their first possession of overtime to take the lead, but Clemson responded with a seldom used play on third and 11 to get the victory as quarterback Kyle Parker completed a 27 yard touchdown pass to Jacoby Ford. Clemson improved to 4-3 with the win while Miami slipped to 5-2.

College football betting devotees who backed Clemson as +4 road underdogs eventually cashed their tickets, but they definitely earned their money in a game that saw twelve lead changes and two ties. Clemson improved to 5-2 against the spread with the cover, while Miami dropped to 4-3 against the money. The 77 combined points sailed OVER the posted total of 43. It was only Miami's second OVER of the season against four UNDER verdicts while Clemson has gone OVER in three of their seven games.

After the game, Jacoby Ford explained the logic for the surprise play:

"We knew this game was going to come down to who made more plays. And we did."

Miami has a history of winning when their offense is clicking-this loss was only the second in 115 games when the Hurricanes score 37 or more points dating back to'85.

For his part, Clemson coach Dabo Swinney is glad this one is over:

"I have a birthday next month and I think I'm going to turn 50 instead of 40. We had to put on Superman capes. We made plenty of mistakes that could have lost us the game, but they played with poise and confidence. We just kept battling."

CJ Spiller was also a big factor for the Tigers as he set a school record with 310 all purpose yards including a 90 yard kickoff return for a touchdown. He also added 81 yards rushing and 104 yards receiving with a 56 yard touchdown catch.

Clemson QB Parker suggested that last week's win over Wake Forrest was a turning point for his team:

"I think last week we realized that we could be really good and this week we acted on it. I thought we really got some explosive plays and we played well."

Miami's quarterback Jason Harris sounded a markedly different tone in his postgame comments:

"This has to be my toughest loss here. We fought so hard throughout the game as a team and didn't come out with the victory. We let Clemson outwork us, we turned the ball over too much -- little things that made us get to this point."

Clemson will host FCS foe Coastal Carolina next Saturday before resuming ACC play the following week at home against Florida State. They'll travel to North Carolina State on November--. Miami plays two of their next three on the road, starting next weekend at Wake Forest. - 29943

White Cyc Studios: Boundless Technology

By Phil Guye

White cyc is an individual part used to build a cyclorama that encircles the stage. All the changes in technology have done small to switch the way that the cyc is lighted over time. All of the state-of-the-art technology has increased the significance of proper lighting, and using the right kind of material for the white cyc.

What technology has done is take century old technology and make its use necessary for making virtual backgrounds for virtual and computer effects for the up and coming flood of films, and diverse video applications conditional on PC systems requiring faultless virtual backgrounds that may only be created in white cyc studios. White cyc studios technology dates back to nineteenth century German Theaters and has bounced round the entertainment industry for a long time. White wall surface was use for early twentieth century Broadway plays and finally ended up in Hollywood use for creating computer effects.

The white cyc is an extraordinarily helpful tool when it comes to lighting the white surface stage set. The white cyc provides the lighting designer with an abounded number of lighting chances for staging the specified computer effects scene. The white cyc with correct lighting will draw the viewers focus to the subject that the producer wants to show off. This is the major advantage of white surface backgrounds, and the reason white cyc studios are used for TV commercials, stories programs, music videos, dance routines, and other sorts of film media. White is used for the color of the cyc as it leaves the background void so a new background with the desired effect can replace it. The void background is excellent for digital fashion photography enhancing the model's appearance and keeping total focus on the model.

The number of white cyc studios technology walls can be painted green to combine green screen effects in the white cyclorama studios. This works as the cyc is void of background allowing for the green screen background effect to turn up in place of the white cyclorama background. Using the cyc enhances the green screen effect by giving it illusions depth and infinite space. Robert Rodriguez exploited a method similar when he was filming Sin City when he uses his 1956 Chevy Panel truck in the flick. He places his van on a platform and films it from all different camera angles. The actors were filmed in front of a green screen background and were composite in the wagon film to appear to be inside of the wagon. In reality the actors never were in the van during filming. With the inflating number of computer effects in pictures and TV programs today cyc lighting is very essential in creating special visual effects.

Film producers have questions about using white cyclorama studios for computer effects. The producer's doubts are quickly dismissed with clear experience of what the cyclorama studios can do when they experience the results from the production lofts. Another use for white cyc studios technology backgrounds is on talk shows when music groups stop by to play one of their new music pieces. The white surface provides the perfect area for making a quick music environment. - 29943

Your Special Day - Getting The Photography Right

By Ray Wong

The wedding couple are the two most important people on a wedding day. To get some excellent portraits, the photographer should seclude the wedding couple from the celebration for a while to capture the intimate moments after the ceremony. This helps the couple to get away from the delight of their wedding as well.

There is an amount of time that the photographer will been to spend with the bride and groom for the portrait session. On the wedding day it doesn't always happen because it is rare to have time on the actual day of the wedding. The time taken for pictures can well vary from an hour to no time at all. It can take up to an hour for the photographer to take the pictures.

The photographer will require some time with the bride and groom, but when is a good time?

Most photographers tend to believe that the window before the reception is very suitable for portrait photography, since the couple would still look fresh at that time.

Award winning photographer Bradley Hanson says that sometimes the bride and the groom would want to start the portrait session even before the ceremony. When the bride is getting ready is when he usually starts photographing.

Other photo journalists believe that the right time for a portrait session is just after the couple has exchanged their vows, and are still are evidently feeling the emotions of being newly-wed.

For the perfect actual day session to begin, the newly-weds should set aside some time to spend with the photographer. They should find ways to politely lose the relatives and guests to acquire the beautiful moments, so that they can be cherished for a lifetime.

Too many people trying to take pictures of the newly-weds and crying for attention may very well ruin a good portrait session on the wedding day. So the couple isn't distracted by anyone the photographer will choose to have the couple alone.

Most newly-weds start feeling uncomfortable before the camera when the portrait shoot is going to take place, says Shawna Herring, award winning photographer. Professional photographers try to talk to the camera-shy couple about things other than the portrait session so that they forget the camera is even there.

Sometimes people will choose to go to a different location the day before the wedding to have the photo shoot done. To have a good relationship with the photographer this really seems to help loosen them up. Shortly after, couples sometimes forget the camera is even there.

It is at times impossible to achieve the perfect alone time with the photographer due to a variety of reasons. The bride and the groom should work together with the photographer to find some alone time so that a really creative portrait session is achieved. - 29943
