The Titanic And The Poseidon Adventure - Coincidence?

By Kal Endar

If you've done any research at all on the Titanic, or even if you've just flipped through an article or two about the sinking of the ship, you're probably aware of at least one remarkable coincidence associated with the great tragedy " that fourteen years before the Titanic sank, author Morgan Robertson wrote a novella titled Futility about the largest and grandest ocean liner of it's time " one considered unsinkable because of it's new, water tight compartments " that sank after striking an iceberg. Many passengers lost their lives because the ship did not carry enough lifeboats. The name of this fictional ship? The Titan!

But here's a little known fact you can use to amaze your friends and family. On that fateful last night aboard the Titanic, over 200 Second Class passengers were eagerly holed up in the Second Class dining room. What was keeping these passengers so entertained? Why, a new fangled contraption called a Motion Picture! And what were they watching? What else? "The Poseidon Adventure"!

In 1912, the film industry had just begun producing motion pictures. They were all still silent features and all filmed in black and white. Most were no more than one real long, only lasting for 8 to 10 minutes. But this new form of entertainment captivated audiences everywhere. To show that it was the most luxurious liner on the seven seas, the Titanic carried it's own movie projector and a library of movies.

However, the film industry still had a somewhat unsavory image due to it's Nickleodeon days. The First Class passengers aboard the Titanic were offended by this new form of entertainment. So the films were shown at 11 PM, after the First Class Passengers retired, and only in the Second Class dining room.

The audience of a few hundred Second Class passengers was so enthralled with The Poseidon Adventure - a tale of six passengers and crew members struggling to survive the sinking of their ship " that they either didn't feel the shudder of the ship as it struck the iceberg or they took no notice. In fact, they were so entertained by the movie that it was shown a second time, immediately after the first.

The Poseidon Adventure was an unusually long movie for it's time, and with 2 back to back showings of 53 mnutes each, it was well after 1AM when these Second and Third Class passengers finally returned to the deck. By that time, the few lifeboats that there were had already been launched, most at only partial capacity and occupied by First Class Passengers.

This grim coincidence could explain why barely one third of the Titanic's Second Class Passengers survived while nearly two thirds of the First Class passengers and crew made it to safety. - 29943

Digital Scrapbooking Software

By George Carmichael

The digital camera has revolutionized the hobby of photography. The industry has come a long way since the days of film-cameras! A person using a film camera used to have to cross their fingers and hope that when they took their film into the developer's, at least some of the photos would work out! Now, with digital cameras, there is no doubt that one only needs to print out the photographs that are of the best quality -- the blurry photos, or the ones in which there are closed eyes can simply be deleted!

Although I wouldn't trade my digital camera for anything, I do realize that when I used to use the old film camera, I almost seemed to appreciate the photos that I took a little bit more. I took them carefully, I paid to develop them, and I always promptly put the developed product into an album or scrapbook for "safe keeping".

Now that I take digital photographs, I suddenly have hundreds of photos "cluttering up" my home computer! I rarely develop my photos anymore!

Luckily, I have recently come across a fantastic method of using my many digital photographs; digital scrapbooking software! By using digital scrapbooking software to create amazing scrapbooks and photo albums, I no longer have unused digital photos cluttering up my computer!

With digital scrapbooking software, scrapbooking is a breeze. It is just as much fun as traditional scrapbooking used to be, but I find it so much more appealing because of the relatively low cost and wide variety of options!

Using digital scrapbooking download is a cinch. First, you organize your photos by deciding which photos you will present in your digital album or scrapbook. Next, use your digital scrapbooking software to upload your chosen photos. You can create categories, or folders, to keep your photos organized for each scrapbooking project. And then the fun really begins.

Digital scrapbooking software offers an endless variety of creative and unique clip art and backgrounds to choose from and play with!

The best part of using digital scrapbooking software is that you are not limited to using only digital photographs! You can easily use your scanner to upload older photos and even mementos to add to your digital scrapbook!

Choosing the digital scrapbooking software that is right for you is simple, but it pays to do your research! If you want to find the photo scrapbook software that will allow you to make the highest possible quality scrapbooks, then beware of the website that is offering you the software. Look for the following things:

- Professionalism: does the site appear to have been created by a professional web designer? Generally speaking, if the site looks good and like its had some money put into it, then its more likely a legitimate business that it promoting a legitimate product.

- A Contact Page: does the website promoting the digital scrapbooking software have a method by which you can contact the sellers? You always have to be cautious about what you download off of the internet; do your homework and make sure you know who you are getting your software from!

"Extras": does the website offering the digital scrapbooking software offer "extra" features such as add-ons, fancy backgrounds, and a variety of clip-art?

And most importantly, digital scrapbooking software should be FREE. Thats right: FREE. How do the companies promoting them make their money, you ask? You get to use their amazing digital scrapbooking software for free to make a digital scrapbook or photo album, and then if you choose, you can pay them to professionally publish (print) it for you. Its a great deal! You can play and create for free, and if you want to, you can publish it too!

As an example of free digital scrapbooking software, check out Avatree. Avatree will provide you with endless entertainment as you pursue your creative scrapbooking hobby! - 29943

Cable Internet Special Deals

By Denise Hunt

For years and years there has been a debate between cable and satellite, but really, there is nothing to debate at all. If you are one of the people still on the fence, you should know that clumsy, cumbersome, expensive satellite service really just isn't the way to go anymore. Sure, 15 years ago you could get some great channels with your satellite service, but nowadays, you can get everything you have with satellite, plus a lot more, if you go with cable. When you consider reliability of service, package options, plus bundling available from your cable company, you see that there is just no longer any competition. There are many cable and DSL companies that make their services available within the US through Acceller.

These cable and DSL companies include Comcast Cable, Verizon DSL, Verizon FiOS, Time Warner, RoadRunner, Charter Communications, Bright House Networks, Charter Cable, AT&T Yahoo High Speed Internet, Qwest DSL, EarthLink DSL, Embarq, Insight, Mediacom, Hughesnet, Atlantic Broadband, Buckeye CableSystems, Bresnan Online, WildBlue, Clearwire Wireless Broadband and others.

First, let's talk about reliability. If you have had satellite service for any length of time, you know that when a good storm or even a strong gust of wind comes along, you are going to be out of TV for a little while-- it's just a fact. Also, if a seriously strong storm comes through, it's likely that your dish will be ripped straight off of your house and thrown a hundred yards down the road, so you will likely have to buy a new one out of pocket. After that, you have to go through the entire process of having to have a technician come out to your house and drill more holes into your roof or eve just to get service back. That's not very reliable or convenient. What if you don't have a good view of the sky where you are? Then you can't even get satellite service, which isn't much of a loss, really. Who wants that ugly dish nailed to their home or stuck on a pole in their yard, anyway?

You may be thinking, "Even if the service is more reliable, your options aren't as good with cable, so why even bother?" Well, your options are great with cable, in actuality. You can get every movie channel, every pay per view and nearly everything that's available in HD, if you want. You won't be sacrificing your service to get something more reliable at a better price. Cable TV offers everything that satellite does at a better quality. Don't forget, if you want a DVR, your cable company probably has them. Just because people speak so highly of TiVo doesn't make it any better than other DVRs. In fact, you will likely be very impressed with your cable company's DVR service over that of your satellite TV provider.

That's not even the end of the offers. Don't forget that now you can get your high speed internet service and your phone service through your cable company at a better price when you bundle all three together. Your cable company is here to help you spread your dollar as thinly as possible. Isn't it time you took advantage?

Bundling is great in too many ways to count. First, you already know that you save money just by bundling in itself. Aside from saving the money, you save yourself stress and time. Each month, you have to remember what bills are due where and exactly what day they are due. Why not remove the hassle and consolidate three utilities into one company and save yourself some money and work? As you can easily see, there is no way satellite companies can keep up with your local cable company. With overpriced, outdate service, who wants to deal with a clumsy satellite in their yard that really isn't even that effective? Call and order cable company today. - 29943

Yes - The Cosmic Ordering Service Does Home Deliveries!

By Gina Daad

The thought of being able to order anything you want from the universe and actually getting it, is something more and more people are thinking about. Quite understandable really when one considers the sharp increase in the amount of publicity cosmic ordering has enjoyed recently.

It seems that everyone wants to jump on the bandwagon now that so many celebrities are vouching for it. The question remains though, what are your chances of success as an average person?

In fact theoretically it works for everyone, but people who have not been successful do not realize that they are subconsciously sabotaging their cosmic order. You see whatever you think will happen really does happen!

The cosmic ordering service allows you to have anything you desire. This is of course something with which some people disagree, saying they have never had the desire to be ill or to become seriously injured for example and yes, they are absolutely right.

The problem is that they believed it would happen. The Universe doesn't understand negatives. If you say you don't want to be poor, it doesn't hear the word don't, it just hears the words want and poor. You focus on the poverty in this case.

You should aim to seek desires from a more positive aspect so, instead of what you don't want, rather desire what you do want. For example, you could say, I'm so healthy it's of little wonder that I never get ill.

Perhaps you have failed here as well and if so, you're not alone. Many people who attempt this, tend to affirm how they are at present, instead of how they could be with a little help from the universe. When you make affirmations, think to the future and how perfect it can be, rather than dwell on the imperfect present moment.

Life brings to us the belief systems of others. The kids in the third grade that teased you because you were fat, skinny, had glasses or didn't wear the best clothes changed the belief that you have for yourself.

When children ask us for things, we often reprimand them, saying it's bad to always ask. If they receive a lot of goods, we tell them it's bad and that they are being spoilt. The truth is though; children should be brought up believing they can have everything they want because they deserve it.

This is all wrong. There is more than enough for everyone. The fact that you exist means you're allowed to order. You cannot take from others. This actually negates the system.

If you believe there's not enough for you, beware, because this in itself is channelling negative desire. Don't desire what another has, as this could be interpreted as meaning you don't have enough, another negative channel. Instead, be happy for those who have plenty and simply remind yourself, there is enough for everyone.

The human brain can move a quark, the smallest particle we know of, simply by sending out waves of energy. This is not theory, but rather a fact which has been proven by modern science. Positive thinking releases positive energy and positive energy, gets positive results.

Changing the way we think and the way in which we have been schooled to believe, is by no means easy but it can be done. Admittedly, in order to tackle this immense task, you'll need all the tools you can find.

There are numerous tools but two which always spring to mind, are self-hypnosis and subliminal suggestion. Both these powerful tools avoid interference from the logical processes of our brain and instead, they go to work on our subconscious minds, the area in which our beliefs are embedded.

You need to believe that the cosmic ordering service can and does work, and you need to believe that as a human being, you can control your future and determine your own happy destiny. - 29943
