A Couple Of Quality Movie Synopses To Check Out

For a long time we have used the video store as one of our main ways to access movies. As technologies have advanced, downloading dvds off movie download sites is becoming very common. Just about any movie every made can be attained through a movie download site now. Check out these samples.

Million Dollar Baby: Maggie Fitzgerald is a middle-aged woman with a dream. She is determined to become a championship boxer, and she just won't quite. She needs Frankie, a local boxing trainer to help. He is reluctant at first, but Maggie's unstoppable spirit sweeps him in.

Staircase: Stun value of Burton and Harrison as a gay couple was all this film had going for it in 1969, and nothing has changed as long as then, with the exception of increased viewer interest. Dudley Moore configured the score. Cast includes Richard Burton, Rex Harrison, Cathleen Nesbitt, and Beatrix Lehmann. (100 minutes, 1969)

Tropic Thunder: Desperate to get more out of his spoiled actors, while filming an epic war Vietnam War film, director Damien Cockburn makes a bold move. He litters the jungle with cameras, plans some diversions, and throws the actors in the jungle on their own to fend for themselves. They think it's only a movie, but soon the bullets coming at the actors are real.

Die Hard: In position to commit the perfect crime, terrorists have commandeered a Los Angeles high rise, and are holding everyone hostage. There is $460 million in the corporate safe that the terrorists want. Everything is going according to play. Uninvited, so the terrorists don't know he is there New York cop John McClane is the lone hope to stop the terrorists.

The Prince and the Showgirl: Fairly good but slow moving comedy of saucy American show gal Monroe being courted by Prince Regent of Carpathia (Olivier) throughout the 1911 coronation of George V. Filmed in England, with admirable performances by Monroe and Olivier. Cast includes Laurence Olivier, Sybil Thorndike, Jeremy Spencer, and Richard Wattis. (117 minutes, 1957)

The Village: Set in the 19th century, people live in a seemingly wonderful little village, but there is a problem. There is a race of 'creatures' that live surrounding the village. No one inside the village dares to go outside the city. One person, Luscious Hunt, has a strong urge to see what is out there. Eventually the world outside the village is exposed, and chaos ensues.

Natural Born Killers: Mary Mallory is a teenager with an abusive father. After falling in love with Mickey, they viscously murder Mary's parents. Now they are on the run along Rt. 666. As they run, they go on killing sprees, usually leaving one person alive that can recount the events. As time continues they become a media sensation, almost national heroes.

Genealogies of a Crime: Deneuve is beaming in a twin role as the attorney for, and victim of, a strange youthful gentleman who's implicated of killing his psychiatrist mother's sibling after she supposedly subjected him to drastic mind-control therapy. Well-performed although conceited, deliberately perplexing blend of puzzle, satire, and surrealism; hoaxed up with pointless flashbacks within flashbacks and other narrative and graphic gimmicks. Cast includes Catherine Deneuve, Michel Piccoli, Melvil Poupaud, Andrzej Seweryn, and Bernadette LaFont. (114 minutes, 1997)

A Good Woman: Strange rendition of Oscar Wilde's Woman Windermere's Fan, which has been filmed a few times over the years, set in Italy instead of England and updated from the 1890s to the 1930s. A number of Wilde's British characters now are Americans. Cast includes Helen Seek, Scarlett Johansson, Milena Vukotic, Stephen Campbell Moore, Mark Umbers, Tom Wilkinson, and Diana Hardcastle. (93 minutes, 2005)
